2007 Lagar
de Cervera Albarino: From Rias Baixas, Spain. 89 Points-Stephen
Tanzar's International Wine Cellar. "Fresh pear and peach aromas
are brightened by lemon and jasmine. Fleshy orchard fruit flavors
offer good coverage and are firmed by lighter citrus pith. Richer
than many versions of this variety." Good with seafood, spicy
food or all by itself.

2006 Querciabella Mongrana:
From Tuscany, Italy. This wine is from the Maremma region of southern
Tuscany. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese.
The Estate uses biodynamic agriculture to cultivate the land. A
beautiful expression of carefully tended fruit. Enjoy the spicy
black cherry, and cassis fruit with trademark Tuscan acidity. 2005

Larkin Cabernet Franc: From Napa Valley, California. 93 Points-The
Wine Advocate. "The dark ruby/purple-hued 2006 Cabernet Franc
boasts abundant quantities of sweet blueberry and black raspberry
aromas interwoven with subtle hints of bay leaf, licorice, and flowers.
Full-bodied and supple-textured with delicious, deep, ripe fruit nicely
balanced by adequate acidity, this is a substantial, yet paradoxically
an ethereal tasting wine to drink over the next 12+ years. 2006
Klassen Merlot: From Sonoma County, California. The Klassen Melrot
continues the fine tradition of producing full-bodied Merlot by blending
in small parcels of powerful varieties such as Syrah. The most classic
of all Merlot characteristics-ripe dark cherry-is enhanced by the
addition of Syrah and make this Merlot a great partner to braised
red meats, savory stews and risottos. 2007
Josh Cellars Josh Pinot Noir: From Santa Cruz, California. Blended
and bottled by Joseph Carr. "My fathers name was Joseph,
as is mine, but his friends just called him Josh. Growers, that I
call friends, all lend a hand in this. "Winemakers Wine",
that we jokingly refer to as "Vin de Garage"; a handcrafted
wine we made just for ourselves. This vintage shows bright, complex,
cherry and strawberry nuances, matched with a hint of smoke and earth,
alongside soft tannins. A wine that is bold and expressive but unassuming,
and approachable. Funny, how these characteristics seem to remind
me of someone that I knew. It's a wine I made for my family, my friends,
and the man I called Dad." www.joshcellars.com. 2007
Bodegas Castano Monastrell: From Yecla, Spain. 90 Points-The Wine
Advocate-Jay Miller. "Dark purple. Luscious balckberry and blueberry
aromas are at once expansive and precise, with sexy floral and spice
qualities adding complexity. Juicy dark fruit flavors deliver a sexy
wallop of sweetness, with no edges. This very fresh wine finishes
with impressive cling and length, and the price is unreal." Match
with game, lamb or duck. 2003
Ruffino Tenuta Greppone Mazzi Brunello Di Montalcino:
From Italy. Aroma: Floral, fruity and spicy notes form an extremely
complex, inviting bouquet: violets and yellow roses, wild cherries
and plums, red currant and mature figs, cloves, walnuts, toasted coffee
grains and concentrated plain chocolate, just to mention a few. A
truly impressive bouquet. Tasting profile: The Brunello di Montalcino
Greppone Mazzi displays an excellent ageing potential. It is full
bodied, lush and enveloping on the palate, with chewy tannins and
a tight, vibrating texture, full of spicy fruit. The aftertaste is
long lingering with notes of tar, rosemary and cherry pie. | ||
